Working closely with the Head of Product, you will have a significant strategic impact and influence the direction of the platform, support our product vision and long-term roadmap, scale our engineering team and ensure we deliver the best possible product experience for millions of existing users. We have ambitious yet realistic growth goals over the next 3 years and you will be one of the key players on our path to success.

Based in New York, you’ll be working with an incredible group of people dedicated to thinking big and acting small; executing big ideas at a global scale leading the core product strategy, team development, and execution plans.

 You will…

  • Together with the Head of Product, develop the 2-3 year plan for the engineering team that aligns to the Tinybeans vision, and translate this into ongoing 3-month plans and roadmaps
  • Determine necessary headcount/skills/structure to achieve current and future goals and help recruit at a world-class level—actively network, reach out to candidates and conduct other activities to attract top talent
  • Ensure everyone on the team has the resources and opportunities to learn and grow — formal/informal training, mentorship, stretch goals, attendance at conferences
  • Create and apply engineering-specific development expectations; use these to provide regular feedback
  • Reorganize and effectively manage change as needed to best fit with the business needs
  • Manage team dynamics and employee relations issues and be accountable for resolution
  • Drive the success of others by enabling your team to self-organize to achieve predictable and sustainable high velocity
  • Achieve results and hold teams accountable to deliver on their own goals
  • Devise methods to measure output and effectiveness week over week and present findings and bottlenecks to the product leadership
  • Inspire and motivate the team to strive for excellence
  • Develop and promote processes which ensure timely delivery of products
  • Codify and disseminate best practices (i.e. testing, code reviews, pair programming)
  • Connect engineering vision and goals to the company’s vision and goals and communicate them widely
  • Help engineers understand why their contributions are valuable and how they tie to business impact
  • Build a world-class Engineering organization
  • Nurture Engineering’s strong relationship/alignment with the Product team

Requirements

You have…

  • Strong technology fundamentals and the ability to make high impact decisions about the long term viability/scalability of technical solutions (tech stack - Java, iOS, MySQL, Android, AWS, Spark, R, MongoDB)
  • Significant (10+ years) and relevant experience in product management as an individual contributor and team manager in a B2C startup background preferred
  • Inspiring character with a pragmatic hands-on mentality
  • Leading by example, driven, excellent execution and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent people management and proven communication skills that positively impacted a globally dispersed team
  • Have a passion for customer-focused product development
  • Exposure to frameworks like Play, Ember and programmatic platforms a major plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • MS, MBA or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related fields is a plus
